Work

Possessing a proclivity for found objects, oddities, botanical paraphernalia, and the unusual, I incorporate the unexpected into found books and assemblages. It is fun to place functional items into surprising places, to disrupt their intended use and end up with an art piece. Nearly 100% of objects utilized in my art are found (estate sales, yard sales, thrift stores, or simply laying in the street!)

When finding that one unusual “thing” I think about its possibilities and become inspired, which brings me to build an entire piece around that one find.

I hold the highest regard and respect for books. My art is grounded in my relationship with books. Holding a degree in both Literature and History reaffirms my respect for books and the written word. My lifelong collection of over 3,000 books not only includes classics but many books that belonged to my descendants, some dating back as far as the 18th century.

My art is truly a reflection of our times:  the demise of the book and the beauty of turning the pages.
